Danny - the 1582 Survey (Transcript)

In 1582 George Goring of Lewes bought the Manors of Hurstpierpoint, Westmeston, Streat, Newick, Novington, Danny Park and Herst Park (Little Park) and the Hundred of Buttinghill.

The 1582 Survey lists the lands acquired by Goring and was carried out by Thomas Jeans, servant to Thomas Wyseman for George Goring and provides great detail of the Manor House. It names and describes the tenants and copyhold lands and records even field names and the value of timber which could be produced by individual plots.

Much of the original has to be translated from Latin which will be a lengthy process.
